We’re Better Together
Would you like to be a part of a community dedicated to improving the lives of children by delivering mindfulness in the classroom? Could you benefit from the emotional support of your peers? I created Now Children to do just that. I believe that teachers can benefit deeply from cultivating a mindfulness practice in their own lives, and through this foundation they can then extended the wonderful benefits of mindfulness to the children in their classrooms.

An Overview of the Training Modules

Teaching Mindfulness to Children

Introduction & Teaching Mindfully

This is your introduction to what it means to teach mindfulness to children. Learn how to define what mindfulness is and is not, its benefits in education, and how mindfulness affects the developing brain. You’ll learn about the importance of teaching from presence and how to integrate your own mindfulness practice into your teaching. (13 Videos)

The Fundamentals of Mindfulness

Learn how to introduce mindfulness to younger and older children as well as the quintessential lessons to any mindfulness program. Each lesson is broken down into three parts, an introduction, a demonstration, and a reflection. (23 Videos)

Honing Attention and Regulation Skills

This module builds off of the techniques offered in Module 2, emphasizing building the student’s ability to strengthen and sustain their attention. This set of units also focuses on ways students can use mindfulness to regulate their nervous systems, sensory input, and emotions. (24 Videos)

Cultivating Empathy and Well-being

This module combines mindfulness practice and heart practice. Its purpose is to offer a set of lessons to address the need for compassion, co-operation, inclusivity, and respectful regard for others in the classroom. These lessons hold the perspective that having empathy for others in-turn cultivates personal well-being and happiness, making these practices holistic instead of punitive responses to difficult or challenging classroom relationships. (18 Videos)

Social-Emotional Learning Through Mindfulness

This module unites the theory of SEL and mindfulness practice by using mindful awareness to understand the intrapersonal processes (awareness of one’s own emotions, thoughts, and ideas) and interpersonal processes (empathic relating to others). This set of lessons advances a mindfulness program, bringing depth and life long skills to any student. (21 Videos)

Regularly Added New Content From Our “Live” Events

We are excited to bring a variety of speakers, change-makers, innovators, and questioners to the Now Children community. These events are held throughout the year and event recordings are added to the resource section of the course so you can watch them at your leisure. Learn from top minds in the fields of education, mindfulness, social justice, climate justice, and more.

Guided Meditations from Kate Munding and Friends

We add newly recorded meditations intended to help you strengthen your own mindfulness practice. Now Children teachers offer simple practice instruction through guided meditation to help you become more present, resilient, and wise. Personal mindfulness practice is key to supporting a more mindful and compassionate world. It’s also fundamental to supporting your own “inner world.”

Who is this training for?

We support the teachers and education professionals who work with children, including administrators, educational support professionals, and mindfulness leaders interested in integrating mindfulness into educational settings. Together, we are building a community responsible for preparing children to enter a world filled with monumental challenges skillfully. We know that mindfulness is a fundamental support tool for everyone involved in the K-12 classroom setting.

Teachers

Classroom teachers often hold the educational and emotional needs of individual students and the class as a whole. They are unique in integrating direct daily mindfulness teachings into their existing curriculum, offering continuity and sustainability to a mindfulness program. Our training supports teachers in integrating mindfulness into their own teaching style and current curriculums. Lessons are designed to teach an entire class but are easily adaptable to individual students’ needs.

Mindfulness Instructors

People who have already been trained to professionally teach mindfulness may not have the training or experience to teach to children. This will prepare you to bring mindfulness programs to classrooms or other children’s programs by providing you with a complete curriculum, how to teach and adapt to different ages, and classroom management skills.

Educational Support Professionals

Creative arts teachers (music, art, theater, language, etc.), learning specialists, school therapists, and social workers often work in various conditions. You might go to the students and teach in their classroom, or they may come to you. You might work a lot one-to-one or in small groups. This training offers enough guidance and support to adapt the mindfulness curriculum to your needs and make the content relevant to your student’s learning goals.

Administrators

Principals, Heads of School, and other administrative support staff are not only working hard to support a healthy learning environment school-wide for students but a collegial work environment for staff, teachers, and parents. Our training supports administrators to find more balance in their work, better support the wellbeing of their teachers, and gain skills to work with students in groups or one-to-one.
